Lab 2: Initial CUCM Settings and Service Activation In this lab we will look at administrator interfaces of CUCM, Unity Connection, and Cisco Unified Presence. We will also activate the required services, configure CUCM to provide DHCP services, and configure enterprise and service parameters. Task 1: Service Activation in CUCM Login to the publisher in your pod (https://128.213.21.X/ccmservice) and go to Tools -> Service Activiation. From here choose the publisher and click Go. From the list of services, enable Cisco CallManager, Cisco TFTP, Cisco DHCP Monitor Service, and Cisco Serviceability Reporter. Confirm these are activated and then repeat the procedure on your subscriber, but do not enable the DHCP Monitor Service on the subscriber. Task 2: CUCM System Information Go to https://128.213.21.X/cmplatform and login (userid here is admin, not ccmadmin). From here record gateway IP address, NTP server, and version of CUCM being used. Use the ping utility under services and verify you can ping your default gateway. SSH into your publisher and from the CLI issue the command “show status” and “show hardware” to become familiar with the CLI. Be sure to record the MAC address of the publisher – this will be needed later. Task 3: Configure CUCM to be a DHCP server Go to CUCM administration and then go to System -> DHCP -> DHCP Server and click add new. For the DHCP server configuration enter and hit save: Host server: publisher Primary tftp server: IP address of publisher Navigate to system -> dhcp -> dhcp subnet and click add new. Configuration parameters: Subnet IPv4 Address: 128.213.21.X (specific to pod) Determine primary start and end IP address by using a block of 5 not in use in your pod. Primary router should be gateway for your network. TFTP server (option 150) should be IP address of publisher and subscriber as secondary.

Subnet mask is 255.255.255.240 Set lease time to 180 seconds.

Task 5: CUCM Service Parameters In CUCM administration go to System -> Service Parameters. Choose the publisher and then select the Cisco Callmanager service. Enable CDR (call detail records) by finding the correct service parameter and setting to true. Set the call diagnostics enabled parameter to Enabled Only when CDR Flag is True and Save. Do not log calls with zero duration (what is correct parameter?). Task 6: CUCM Enterprise Parameters From CUCM system administration go to system -> enterprise parameters. Scroll down to the CCMAdmin parameters area and activate the Enable Dependency Records and save. Task 7: CUPS Service Activation Go to your Presence/CUPS server and login https://128.213.21.X/ccmservice From here go to tools -> service activation. Enable UP SIP Proxy, UP Presence Engine, UP XCP Text Conference Manager, UP XCP Connection Manager, UP XCP Authentication Service, and AXL Web service. Verify these services are running. Task 8: Presence Gateway Configuration On the CUPS server go to presence -> gateways and add new. The type will be CUCM and configure your publisher. To enable synchronization of users between CUPS and CUCM on the presence server go to serviceability and activate the Cisco UP Sync Agent. We will test this in a future lab.
