Lesson Topic: Introduction to CorelDRAW X4, design a DVD cover
Recent Prior Experience (specific relevant concepts, skills and values the school students have experienced prior to this lesson): Students have been using CorelDRAW X3 a previous version of CorelDRAW. They are familiar with the layout and basics of CorelDRAW. Syllabus Outcome(s): One or two only. Please note the syllabus reference number AND write out in full.

By the end of this lesson, the students will: - Selects and justifies the application of CorelDraw and uses it to produce a DVD cover for the Stop Motion Animation that they have created
- Ss select CorelDRAW and complete a DVD cover
- Understand and appropriately operate CorelDRAW and use it to produce a DVD cover for the Stop Motion Animation that they have created
- Observe Ss using a variety of tools in CorelDRAW to ensure they understand the program
Any safety issues to be considered: -Assure that all computers are in working order -Remove food and drink from the work space

T instructs Ss to turn on their computers and open CorelDraw. T demonstrates the use of CorelDRAW using the projector. T sets up page. Ss follow instructions. T asks Qs about the similarities/differences of the program.

Q/ What do you notice about the user interface? A/ It is very similar. DEVELOPMENT -Demonstrate how to set up the page to the desired size. Q/ Does anyone know how to set up the page? -Identify the basic tools and functions of the program. Q/ How do you draw a rectangle to a specific size? A/ Use the Rectangle tool then change the dimensions found at the top left of the screen. Q/ How do you draw using the freehand tool? A/ First select the draw tool then select the
freehand draw function.
