Abstract- The optimization of manufacturing system means to enhance the efficiency of system i.e. maximize profit, productivity and quality of product and minimize production cost, nonproductive time etc. It is possible when whole system works to gather in a sequence. So to full fill this requirement of manufacturing system we use process plan for job or product. Process plan is the document in which all the operation is arranged in well sequence with some detailed information of operations. Workers in work station perform operation according to the process plan and hence the quality and productivity maintained. The process plans are mainly two types i.e. variant type computer aided process planning (CAPP), Generative type CAPP. There are several methods of process planning some are computer biased and some are manual (traditional process planning). This method of process planning presents a approach to get constrains and basic rules of operation sequence. It is very critical task to handle the governing data of process planning by a single experienced person or by a small team. So here we can get all these governing data of process planning (CAPP) by using BRAINSTORMING (BT) [2] session of knowledge expert from different areas. The process planning manager creates the process plan on the basis of the discussion between different knowledge experts. Keywords—process planning, optimization of manufacturing, Brainstorming. 1. Introduction – optimization is the term which is used for either maximizing or minimizing some parameters. i.e. we try to maximize profit, equipment utilization, resource utilization, productivity etc and also try to minimize cost of production, delay time, non productive time and activity etc. To make our production process optimum we have create a process plan or flow chart of material or job. Any process which is not well planned that will be done roughly i.e. operations are performed randomly on these job so quality of product gets reduced and production time increased. So we have use a process plan to fix the motion of job in work centre and sequence of operation accordingly. Product design is the plan for products and its components and assemblies a manufacturing plan is needed to convert the product design in to a physical entity [1]. The process plan is the detailed sequence of operation and it is the link between design and manufacturing of product. Process planning is concerned with determining the sequence of individual operations needed to produce a given part of product. The necessary operation sequence is documented on a form refried to as a rout sheet. There are several method of process planning i.e. using Artificial Intelligence (computer aided process planning) or manually (traditional process planning). Manual process planning takes much more time as well as experience. Traditional process planning (TPP) biased on judgment and experience of process planner. But again it is very critical task for modern industries to get such experienced and skilled manpower. Because of the problem encountered with manual process planning attempts have been made in recent years to capture logic judgment and experience required for this important function and incorporates them in to computer automated programs. But till now this is very critical task that to capture all the hurdles, constraints, and process sequence such that the system will be able to generate an optimum plan so here we have performed a brainstorming meet between knowledge experts of different areas.
