GENERAL INFORMATION SLIDING FEE SCALE The Y will not deny participation in any of our activities because of an individual’s lack of funds. While participants are expected to pay their fair share of operation costs, assistance may be obtained by completing a Sliding Fee Scale application. Most programs and classes have a limited amount of financial assistance slots available. These slots are awarded on a first come first serve basis. The amount of aid is determined by household size and gross household income. Adults and families may receive from 20-70% in assistance for membership and programs (60% maximum for Gold or Silver plus Nautilus memberships). Youths ages 6-14 may receive 20-80% in assistance for memberships and classes. The source of these funds are the Y’s Annual Sustaining Campaign and The United Way of Franklin County. Anyone interested in financial assistance can pick up an application at the Welcome Center of the Y. If you believe you are in need, please contact our Welcome Center for more information. SPECIAL NEEDS POLICY Every person, regardless of special need, is welcome to register for Y programs. At the time of registration, if a child’s particular needs appear not to be met by our standard program, a meeting will take place between the parent/guardian and the supervising Program Director. At that meeting the child’s needs must be detailed and a written plan generated indicating what changes in program, routine or setting would accommodate those needs. The plan will be reviewed by the Executive Director to determine if it would pose a hardship. Whenever possible, adaptations will be made, but if an undue hardship would be imposed to accommodate the special needs, the parents will be informed in writing within one week of the initial meeting. In such a case the parent/guardian may appeal the decision directly to the Massachusetts Office for Children for Licensed Programs, or the A.D.A. for other programs. Adults with special needs may bring care providers to attend to them in classes or exercise areas. Every attempt will be made to help everyone fit in. In situations where behavior disrupts the general atmosphere, a Program Director will speak with the care provider about behavior modifications or another choice of programming. AWAY - Always Welcome At Y’s We want to encourage members to utilize the Y as often as they can. Sometimes, it’s more convenient for members to use another Y when traveling, near a workplace or on vacation. Now, YMCA in Greenfield Facility Members have the flexibility to use other Y facilities throughout New England, at no extra charge. When traveling outside New England, Y members receive free access (or a reduced day pass rate) to any participating YMCA. Simply present your active YMCA membership card and photo ID at any participating YMCA and enjoy access.

INSURANCE STATEMENT Our Y does not provide accident insurance for injuries sustained during Y activities. Members and Program Associates participate in programs and use the facility at their own risk, and are encouraged to have personal medical insurance coverage. MEMBER FEEDBACK PROCEDURE We welcome and encourage constructive and positive feedback. The following communication options are available to all Y members. 1. Leave a note in the suggestion box. 2. Send an email to
[email protected] or fill out one of the short surveys on the home page of the website. 3. Leave a written message at the Welcome Center. 4. Call the Program Director in charge of the issue. (See page 2) 5. Call the Executive Director if you are unhappy with the staff response. 6. Write a letter to our Membership or Program Committee if you are unhappy with the response from the Executive Director. These committees will review and discuss your suggestion. If a policy change is needed or recommended it will go to the Board of Directors. Please follow the 6 steps above and your concern/suggestion will be evaluated and possibly implemented where space, finances, scheduling, YMCA policy and rules allow. PARKING POLICY Please only park in the Y’s lots while you are using the YMCA (not when you are shopping, using the library or court house etc.). You must have a current Y-Parking Pass (with your license plate number on it). To ensure enough parking spaces please abide by our 2.5 HOUR TIME LIMIT. After 5 pm, Monday - Saturday, and all day Sunday, parking in the town lots and on the street is free. Our Main Street upper lot has 11 parking spaces, four require a state handicapped permit; seven require a Y handicapped permit. Restrictions apply to accommodate our many participants with physical limitations. Note: Any person with a state handicap permit can park in any metered street spot for free. If you are more mobile and have a state handicap permit, please try to park on Main Street and leave the Y lot for those less mobile.
Have some quarters in your car, so you don’t miss a workout. Our free lots may be full at times...be prepared to park on Main Street or in the town’s parking lots.
Ray and Claude watch over the YMCA parking lot to ensure that only Y Members with valid parking passes enter the lot to park. Please be respectful.

TEAM EVALUATION DAY Saturday, Sept 9, 2017 from 2:30 - 3:30 pm
At this time we will evaluate your child and put them at a Level where we can help them be successful. Placement is based on ability. in the YMCA Gymnastics Center. LEVELS 1-3 are beginning levels. The gymnast will be given a routine for floor, bars, and beam, along with a vault to perform at gymnastics competitions. We participate in 10-15 competitions a season depending on level. XCEL LEVELS – These levels allow the gymnast more creativity to help create their own routines. These levels are ideal for boys and girls who are older, maybe did gymnastics in the past and continue to enjoy the sport with a smaller time commitment. They also have between 10-15 competitions a season. Our philosophy at the YMCA is to make gymnastics accessible to all who want to try. We have spots at each level for those who qualify for financial assistance. If you have any questions, please contact Kelly Clevenger at

MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT Dear members and friends, As Board President, I am looking forward in the coming year to continuing to support the excellent service provided by our YMCA to the surrounding communities. The YMCA’s commitment to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility is an important component in the lives of many in our local area. In the coming year the goal is to build upon the success the Y has experienced to this point, including expanding the number of people served by the Y’s mission. In terms of services provided, the Y turns no one away due to a lack of funds and sends hundreds of local children to camp each summer through funds raised at our annual golf tournament. In terms of programming, the Y continues to create innovative
programming for all fitness levels, including the highly effective Prescribe The Y Program, and several new programs in our Fit Life Center for new exercisers. Our weight room received a face-lift this summer, as well as a number of new machines and benches.
to the Annual Sustaining Campaign. Becoming involved with the Y (or increasing your current level of involvement) truly is a grand opportunity to increase your own fitness level and social interaction while at the same time supporting and enriching your local community.
All of these accomplishments are possible only through the herculean efforts of the Y’s dedicated staff and cadre of volunteers, as well as through financial contributions from members and individuals in the community. In order to continue the Y’s high level of impact and success in Franklin County and beyond, the Y is seeking your help. You can help by becoming a new member, sharing your Y success story with others, volunteering for one of the Y’s many community service activities or committees, participating in the annual golf tournament or other fundraising activities held throughout the year and making a donation
We also hope to grow membership to help our financial picture by offering the BETTER TOGETHER: YMCA MEMBER REFERRAL PROGRAM. If you bring in a new member, both of you could receive 10% off your membership dues for at least one year! Make sure to see the Welcome Center for details. Thank you for your commitment to our YMCA and to our local community. Respectfully, Wendy Blanchard Session 1 2017 | YMCA IN GREENFIELD | 27
