BUILDING HOURS - SAFARI & QUEST
BUILDING HOURS
Extended hours: For working parents, campers may come to the Y Monday-Friday as early as 7am and be picked up as late as 5:30 pm. In the mornings parents need to drop their child off in the old gym. In the afternoons children can be picked up in the gym or on the playground. Children must be signed in and out. Extended care passes must be purchased at the front desk and presented to the staff prior to the child attending.
Daycamp is designed to meet the needs of the working parent as well as the “one week” camper. Summer camp is a great place for children to develop mentally, physically, and spiritually. The camp program provides the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities for both past and new campers. Activities include hiking, swimming, themed arts & crafts, singing, fishing, skits, archery, nature study, canoeing, boating, group games, water games, youth sports, and obstacle courses.
Extended hours fee: $15.00/week. A late pick up fee of $5.00 per 5 minutes will be charged to parents who do not pick up their child by 5:30pm.
Sessions run Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. At 9:00 am each morning, transportation will be provided from the Y to the camp by our bus (a certified driver will drive the bus). Parents are responsible in making sure that their child gets on the bus. The campers will return to the Y approximately at 4:20pm. Parents are responsible for their child when they get off the bus. A parent luncheon will be held on Friday afternoon from 11:45 am-1:15 pm. Parents are invited to eat lunch with their child and enjoy skits, awards, and camp songs. The camp fee includes all program costs, $5 credit to Mo Mo’s Store, an afternoon snack and a Y-camp t-shirt.

Circle Swimming What is Circle Swimming? Circle Swimming is basically Follow the Leader and is used when there are 2 or more swimmers wanting to use the same lane. Always check with the other swimmer(s) to let them know you would like to circle swim. After getting the go ahead, enter the water. Always swim on the right side of the lane. Be sure not to swim over the black line, as this will be used as a sort of passing lane. For safety reasons, leave a 5-10 second interval between you and the swimmer in front of you. If you need to pass the swimmer in front of you, carefully check for on coming swimmers. Then swim out and around and back in to your lane quickly, always checking for on coming swimmers, as they have the right of way. When you get to the wall to turn, do so quickly and get off to the right side of the lane. If you stop to rest get as far into the corner of the lane as possible and watch out for your fellow swimmers. Confused? Visit with a lifeguard and they can help you out. See diagram below of what circle swimming looks like.
