Welcome
I would like to thank you for your interest in the Horseshoe Scout Reservation Ranger’s Challenge program. As in years past, we plan to have a fun-filled program which challenges the Scouts individually and as a patrol. Traditionally, the Ranger’s Challenge program has provided very minimal information about what the activities will be taking place during the event. That was by design. As the Scout motto states, we expect everyone to come prepared. Saturday activities this year are based on traditional Scouting skills. As an added challenge this will be a backpacking weekend. So, both Scouts and Leaders will backpack throughout the weekend. Also, don’t plan to settle in during the weekend; everyone will be staying in a different locations both nights. With that being said, this event is not supposed to be an assault on Mount Everest. Remember, you will only be out here for two days. Please make sure everyone in your unit plans accordingly. If anyone in your unit has special medical needs (handicapped, requires power, etc), they must contact us before the event to make arrangements. Registration/payment this year is entirely online. Visit www.bit.ly/2016RangersChallenge to register now. If your unit has older Scouts or leaders who are not interested in participating in the program, we are always looking for staff. The staff signup form is online at www.bit.ly/2016RangersChallengeStaff. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me. In Scouting,
Mike Di Domenico
