Silver Beach Carousel Job Description |​ Events Coordinator This position is responsible for planning and coordinating events at the Silver Beach Carousel by performing duties described below. This position also serves as an information source for visitors and Silver Beach Center partners as needed. This position requires a high level of organizational and interpersonal communications skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Requires a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently while collaborating with others. Requires a broad knowledge of the City of St. Joseph and surrounding communities in southwest Michigan while modeling the highest level of quality customer service. Position Reports to: Silver Beach Carousel Society Board of Directors Principal Responsibilities The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Greet the public and place and receive telephone calls, e-mail and other correspondence and distribute messages. Respond to guest inquiries or refer the inquiry to the appropriate person for response. Representing the Silver Beach Carousel to guests and Silver Beach Center partners by providing high quality and efficient service. Receive requests from outside individuals and groups to rent and/or attend the Carousel, as well as the popcorn machine, cotton candy machine and fun house mirrors. Book, plan, invoice and receive payment for rentals. Ability to speak effectively before public audiences about Silver Beach Carousel and its event opportunities. Respond to requests for event information within 2 days. Enter event details on Google Calendar, Planning Calendar, and Weekly Worker/Volunteer/Event Sheets. Inform those staff and volunteers who need to know about details of scheduled events. Ensure staff and volunteers are adequately prepared for events. Be on site to execute the plans when events occur. Must be willing to enforce rules stated in Carousel policy, procedures and rental contracts. Must be able to problem solve, sometimes instantly, during events. Participate in team meetings and efforts to implement Carousel projects and achieve the Carousel’s goals. Work in Brass Ring Gift Shop as needed. Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures pertaining to the Silver Beach Carousel. Maintain confidentiality and follow the code of ethics. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: • Possess high school diploma or equivalent. • Articulate, outgoing, presenting a professional, pleasant, and courteous appearance at all times. • Skilled in the use of computers and office equipment with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite along with Google Mail and Calendar. • Excellent written and verbal communications required. Ability to communicate and work effectively and courteously with staff, volunteers, guests and the general public. • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and holidays. • Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and create and interpret graphs and reports. • Ability to plan, direct, coordinate plans and produce results in a timely manner. • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks efficiently. • Must be able to function effectively when the noise level of the work environment is moderate to loud. • Must enjoy working with people of all ages. • Ability to multitask. • Experience with Nonprofit organizations, Events Management and/or Customer Service preferred. Type of employment:​ Part-time 15-25 hours per week depending on season
