Interviewing can be intimidating but the step by step   STAR technique will help you master the process. During this interactive session you will learn effective   interviewing skills and put them into practice. You will leave feeling more confident and knowledgeable   about interviewing. Connecting Liberal Arts Majors to Careers This session will focus on the benefits of having a liberal arts degree and how to connect your major to careers. This session will briefly cover the process of declaring your major and steps that you can take to feel confident in your choice of a major. Connecting with Professionals As a student, it is very important to make meaningful connections with professionals for a variety of reasons, whether seeking an internship, finding a job or simply gathering information about careers of interest to help you make a decision. This workshop will provide tips on the most effective ways of connecting with alumnae and professionals and how these relationships can help you achieve your career goals. Crafting a Life in the Arts Considering an artistic career? Wondering how to craft a meaningful lifestyle? Join a campus-wide dialogue with established and emerging artists. Students will have a chance to learn about opportunities available in the arts and connect with professionals in the field. RSVP required for this workshop How to Choose the Right Law School Lisa Rodocker, Assistant Director of Admissions at Washington & Lee will discuss how to choose the right law school and what law schools are really looking for in a candidate. Finding an Internship This workshop will focus on the basics of how to prepare and begin your internship search process. You will also get an orientation to MHC sponsored internship programs, the MHC summer internship funding program, and general resources available through the CDC to support your process. Finding Science Research Opportunities This workshop will focus on how to prepare and begin your search process to find summer research opportunities in the sciences. You will also get an orientation to the resources available through the CDC to support your search process. Free LSAT Practice Testing Come to the Career Development Center and take advantage of the opportunity to get practice testing before you take your LSAT exam. This event is open to all students considering Law School.

How to Apply & Prepare Your UAF Application This workshop is designed to help students understand the overall UAF application process and specific guidelines for responding to each component of the UAF application. Students who attend these workshops will be at an advantage in preparing a successful application. MBTI Workshop: Explore Self, Majors and Careers The key to exploring your future is knowing more about yourself. Explore your Myers-Briggs (MBTI) personality type at the MBTI Workshop. Discover how your type plays out in the academic setting, how it relates to majors and potential careers. Pre-registration required for this workshop. Planning Your Summer: Housing and Budget Planning a great internship for the summer? Do you know where you are going to live? Or how you are going to pay for it (and food and transportation, too)? Join us to learn about how to find housing and plan a budget that works for you this summer. Resume and Cover Letter Workshop This comprehensive workshop will cover both the basics of resume and cover letter writing and give tips and suggestions for customizing your application materials for a specific job or industry. Students of all class years and resume writing experience are encouraged to attend. Senior Series-Get your Career in Gear This six week series is meant to provide a regular meeting time set aside especially for seniors in search of a first job that allows both professional support from CDC staff as well as support from peers going through the same process. All career topics normally covered during our workshop series will be covered within the series, but in a more integrated way. Start Smart Salary Negotiation Ready for your first salary negotiation? Thinking about the gender wage gap? $tart $mart workshops provide college women who are approaching the job market the knowledge and skills to negotiate salaries and benefits so that they receive fair and realistic compensation. Dinner and salary negotiation workbook is included. RSVP required for this workshop.
