Steps for Setting up a Network printer in Windows XP. Step 1: Choose START and then SETTINGS then PRINTERS AND FAXES and the following window should be seen. Click on the “Add a printer” link in the left hand side of that window.
Step 2: The Add a printer wizard will start. Just click “Next” to continue.
Step 3: Choose the “A Network printer, or a printer attached to another computer” as your type of printer to be set up and click “Next”
Step 4: Choose “Connect to this printer..” option and in the “Name:” field type in the following based on the printer you want to install. For BAG129 use: \\iprint.chem.washington.edu\BAG129_HP4200 For CHB304 use: \\iprint.chem.washington.edu\CHB304L_HP4014 Click “Next” to continue. At this point the drivers for the printers should install automatically from the network printer.
Step 5: Decide if you want to use this printer as your default printer or not and click “Next” to continue.
Step 6: Just click “Finish” to exit the wizard. You should now see the new printer in your “Printer and Faxes” window.
