Vote! You Can Make A Difference.
Did you know that you are a member of your College’s Student Club? How did you manage that, you may wonder? Living where you do automatically makes you a member of your College’s Student Club. What does being part of that club mean to you? This is the really cool bit. It means that you get to have your say in the running of the College and Student Living. And you barely have to lift a finger for your voice to be heard. How? Well… you vote! You vote to elect the Student Club Leadership Committee which partners up with the Student Living Team to create the year’s activities and support offered to you during your stay with us. Voting is an important step each and every one of you can take to make a difference. You take the opportunity to pass your ideas to the Administrative team through your elected committee and see them sown as seeds to grow great things. What’s next? Elections are fast approaching. Nominations will be posted, campaigning completed and voting enabled. Take note this next bit is the bit that requires finger lifting from you. For many, these elections are your first and best chance to have a say in the future. So take elections seriously. We certainly do. Attend the meetings, listen to what your candidates have to say. Select those that you feel will best represent you and vote for them. Be part of the process and build a future with us. What do the Committees do? Representing you, they absolutely drive, with their boundless energy and rock-breakingly hard working ethic, the vibe of your College. A huge number of events that you are invited to have been created by your student club committee, in partnership with the Student Living Team. Think you could do the job of a committee member? Then nominate and set yourself up to be part of the Student Living Leadership Curriculum. The Student Clubs will be glad to have you. Holding a position is the best way to help others have their say, and make a difference. You will gain valuable training and experience not only in leadership, but also event organisation and management as you help create the sporting and social calendars for your residence and grow our partnerships. These are marvellous opportunities the likes of which are much harder to come by once you have left Uni. Watch for nomination and election schedules in your College. Talk with your current student leaders. Get involved. And no matter what else you might want to do to help…VOTE!!
