The Alpha Course is over…now what? Now that guests have had the opportunity to experience authentic Christian community, small groups, and open discussion, you may decide to run a different course with a similar format at the same time as your next Alpha course. Here are some other courses to consider: 1. The Jesus Lifestyle Course*: Series 1, 2 or 3 each contain 6 DVD talks (30-40 min) presented by Nicky Gumbel based on Jesus’ teaching on the Sermon on the Mount. Series 1 topics: Happiness, Relationships, Old Testament, Anger, Sex, Divorce Series 2 topics: Integrity, Difficult people, Conflicts, Generosity, Prayer, Ambition Series 3 topics: Worry, Criticism, Respect, Commitment, False Prophets, Future Guest Manuals also available. * Formerly entitled, Challenging Lifestyle course 2. God at Work Course: This 6-session course allows guests to discover how Christians can live out their faith in the workplace with purpose and the utmost integrity. Based on the book of the same name by Ken Costa, former investment banker. Topics include: Why work matters, Ambition, Tough Decisions, Stress, Work-Life balance, Failure and Disappointment, Money and Giving. Toolkit contains the God at Work book, Leader’s Guide with Study Questions and Guest Manual. 3. A Life Worth Living Course: A 9-session course based on the book of Philippians. Specifically aimed at those starting out in the Christian life. This video series features host Nicky Gumbel and topics include: New Heart; New Purpose; New Attitude; New Responsibilities; New Friendships; New Confidence; New Ambitions; New Resources; and New Generosity. Great as a follow-up study to the Alpha course. 4. Searching Issues Course: This 7-session course is based on the book of the same name. Topics include: Suffering, Other religions, Pre-marital sex, New Age, Homosexuality, Science & Christianity, the Trinity. Participants read through a different topic in the Searching Issues book and leaders use the Study Guide questions at the back of the book. 5. The Marriage Course: This 7-session DVD course is designed for co-habiting or married couples who want to build strong foundations for a healthy relationship. The course includes a candlelit meal and dessert for each couple and private couples’ discussion. Topics include: Building Strong Foundations, Communication, Resolving Conflict, Forgiveness, Family, Good Sex and Love in Action. Leader’s Guide, Guest Manual and The Marriage Book available. 6. The Marriage Preparation Course: This 5-session DVD course is set in a laid-back and fun environment designed for engaged couples. Candlelit meal and dessert are provided for each couple as they listen to practical, informative talks. Topics include: Communication, Commitment, Resolving Conflict, Keeping Love Alive, Shared Goals and Values. Leader’s Guide, Guest Manual and The Marriage Book available. 7. The Parenting Courses: The Parenting Children Course (0-10 year olds) and The Parenting Teenagers Course (11-18 year olds) each run over 5 sessions. The course, while based on Christian principles, is relevant and helpful for any parent with or without a Christian faith or church background.
