4th SAMS Europe Award 2015

SAMS EUROPE AWARD 2015 WINNER: The first place goes to the project ‘SAMServer@Europe’ from Daimler/Germany that was presented by Gerold Herter.  

The project’s aim was to implement a new SAM strategy. The core element is the SAM framework, which covers all elements for a successful SAM at Daimler, from corporate software guidelines, end-to-end processes, roles & responsibilities to appropriate tooling. Flexera´s FlexNet Manager was used as a tool.



Gerold Herter and Frank Schreckenhöfer from st Daimler/Germany were awarded the 1 place.

2nd Place awarded to the project ‘Skanska Enterprise SAM’ from Skanska/Sweden    

SAM was almost an unknown concept about 3 years ago in Skanska. Since then governance, processes, people and supporting technology have been developing rapidly via a integrated team spanning all enterprise business units. As of today the results are being consciously improved . SNOW License manager was used as a tool. nd

Izabela Surmacz from Skanska/Sweden took the 2 place.

3rd Place awarded to Rhenus/Germany for the project ‘SAM2014’

  

As part of the strategic development of SAM / SLM, Rhenus conducted the validation and optimization of the technical gathered data. The project was very special due to the high complexity of heterogeneous international system environments. The aim of the project was as well the standardization of inventory and deployment processes worldwideperformance and reduction of the carbon footprint. Rhenus former SAM manager Björn Blatt was rd awarded the 3 place.

SESSION · Marika Erlandsen, License Manager, Statens Vegvesen – Norwegian Public Roads Administration / Norway

Emerson´s IT asset manager presented the keynote ‘ITAM in a Global Organization’. He focused on strategy, set-up, culture and sustainability. In his eyes ‘communication is the key’.

Marika Erlandsen moderated a challenge your peers roundtable on ‘Contract and License Negotiations’. She focused on strategies, opportunities and critical pitfalls in an effective negotiation with Oracle.

‘IT-Based company-wide Software License Management: From Theory to Working Practice’ was the case study that Marcin Zdzuennicki has presented. He talked about challenges & opportunities, managing SAM transition, SLM processes and lessons learnt.

The KPI café from Velux was on ‘How to develop and introduce a KPI concept for SAM?’. Questions were What would be the key benefits of working with a KPI metric system for SAM?, Which stakeholders should benefit?, How could metrics be implemented and operated efficiently? et al.

CASE STUDY · Jaswant Kalay, Global Software Asset Manager, Reckitt Benckiser Group plc. / UK Jaswant Kalay held a case study on ‘Software Asset Management: A shift in culture, not just a tool’. He gave insights into the SAM at Reckitt Benckiser and talked about his key learnings.
