Primer Level and Level 1

Dear Colleagues, We are delighted to announce the 2nd edition of Piano Adventures® Primer and Level 1. While we have made small improvements to Piano Adventures® over the years, this is our first major revision. More and more students now move into Level 1 after completing the My First Piano Adventure® series. While smoothing that transition, we also took the opportunity to refresh the Primer Level. So what has changed? • First, be assured that the essence and student-centered philosophy of Piano Adventures® remain intact. • Second, as you peruse this brochure, notice that we added more pages, more color, and some great new features! • Then take a look with the books in-hand. You can also visit our website for a closer look at www.PianoAdventures.com/SecondEdition • Most importantly, observe your students as you use the new editions in your teaching. Our publications have always grown from the needs of the students in your studio. So we’re confident that you’ll see more achievement… and more student smiles! Warmest wishes,

Nancy Faber

New Pieces / New Musical Twists We’ve added additional pages to provide new repertoire—pieces which are destined to become student favorites! Continuing the path of My First Piano Adventure®, the student encounters musical themes by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky, plus folk melodies from around the world. We’ve also “spiced” up many original pieces for lively musical discovery and pianistic applications of the “Technique Secrets.”

Improvisation Activities We’re delighted to offer improvisation activities in the Theory Books that are closely linked to musical adventures from the Lesson Books. Creativity is tapped by venturing deep into the cave on black keys, enjoying a Ferris wheel ride with the C 5-finger scale, and creating a Dinosaur Dance using the G 5-finger scale. Challenge Section The Level 1 Lesson Book includes an optional Challenge Section at the end of the book. These delightful pages preview more 5-finger scales, introduced here as off-the-staff keyboard patterns. This offers teacher flexibility for transposition of Level 1 pieces and for other creative activities that highlight auditory and tactile learning.

LESSON BOOK

What’s New & Improved • Eight additional pages offer exciting new pieces! • New pieces from the great composers: Mozart, Beethoven, and Haydn. Graduates from the My First Piano Adventure® series will welcome the return of their composer “friends.” • A useful note-reading orientation begins the book for both review and preview. These pages may be revisited regularly to ensure “mission accomplished.” • New transposing activities are presented. Firefly, the muchloved review piece, offers an opportunity for students to transpose the piece using a G 5-finger scale. Students have fun chasing the firefly in another key!

FF1078 HL00420171 $6.95

• A new Challenge Section at the end of the book offers flexibility to further explore transposition and other creative activities. This section gives the option of introducing 5-finger scales in D, A, E and F, taught “off-the-staff.”
