Information Technology Instructor: Mrs. Darci Miles Conference Time: 10:40 – 11:21 Phone: 937-393-3485 ext 2907 Email: [email protected] Course Description: This class will concentrate on two major topics: career exploration & basic computer skills. Students will explore careers that match their abilities, interests, and values. Students will apply their knowledge of the computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office 2010 and Filemaker Pro, through many project-based activities. Also, students will learn how to search the Internet effectively and how to become responsible net-citizens. Required Assignments: Students will be working on computers here at school. Students will be expected to complete every assignment that is given. This includes any assignment that is given during an excused absence. Text: All materials will be provided online or as worksheets. Materials Needed: Student should bring a pencil to each class. All other materials for this class are provided. Evaluation: Grades will be based on completion and accuracy of the daily class assignments. The board adopted grading scale will be used to calculate the final grade. Students and parents/guardians are encouraged to view both Progressbook and my school webpage to stay abreast on all assignments and grades. Students who earn below a C- on an assignment will be asked to redo the assignment. Due to the nature of this course, a limited number of quizzes, tests, and homework assignments will be given. Attendance is of the utmost importance. Students who miss work are expected to make up their work before school or during home room. Specific Policies: The school rules (according to the student handbook) will be enforced. In addition, classroom guidelines & expectations will be posted in the classroom as well as on my school webpage. Return bottom portion to Mrs. Miles no later than January 24, 2012 or email me that you have read the syllabus @ [email protected]. Be sure to include your child’s name in the subject line.

Expectations: 1) Students should come to class prepared to learn and contribute meaning: a. Logging in immediately after entering the room b. Having materials required for class (including any assigned homework, notebooks, etc.) 2) Students should have no food, candy, gum or beverages in the classroom. A computer lab is not an environment for eating or drinking. If you bring water, it must remain on the floor or in the classroom storage cubbies. 3) Students should observe the school rules posted in the student handbook. 4) Students (and instructor) should be respectful of themselves and others.
