Condition:

Affected Model(s): 2001 TXi Model Helmets Subject: Shield Venting

It has come to our attention that on some TXi model helmets, hot-breath air may leak into the shield venting system. This condition may cause shield fogging. Q

Note: This condition will affect only 15% of the TXi helmets at the dealer level.

If a customer contacts your dealership concerning this issue, have the customer bring the helmet to your dealership for inspection. Also check your inventory for any potentially affected helmets. Refer to the enclosed inspection procedure for identifying the affected helmet(s). Repair each affected helmet with an enclosed air seal.

Five Air Seals w/Instructions (p/n 4212-900) are enclosed at no charge. Q NOTE: Additional air seals will be available on approximately December 13, 2000. If more air seals are needed at a later date, order additional air seals through normal parts-ordering channels. Q NOTE: Please be reasonable on air seal reorders. Each p/n 4212-900 is packaged with 5 air seals. Order only enough for current needs. All helmets shipped from the warehouse as of December 8, 2000, will have the air seals installed.

Warranty:

A labor allowance of 0.2 hr will be paid per affected helmet. A group Warranty Claim Form of up to 10 part numbers (p/n) will be accepted. Enter 2001-1-12 in the Failure Code section of the Warranty Claim Form. Enter 0 and p/n 4212-900 in the Parts section of the Warranty Claim Form. Q

NOTE: This bulletin expires December 8, 2002.
