SCOPE OF WORK Install fixed ladder and platforms on IMPSA Crane No. 2 and 4 at the Port Of Port Elizabeth Container Terminal

Background: Approximately 5 years ago, two IMPSA Ship to Shore cranes were relocated from Durban to the Port of Port Elizabeth Container Terminal. All walkway, platform and staircase stringers on the crane are severely rusted and poses a safety risk. The severity of the corrosion can be seen in Figure 1 and 2. It was therefore decided to install a fixed ladder and platforms in the interim to mitigate the risk until the complete staircase is replaced.

1. The following work is to be conducted:

1.1 Remove the fixed ladders from crane 1 and 5 to be utilized on this project 1.2 Identify the most practical route to install a fixed ladder with the required platforms to reach the platforms at boom height. 1.3 Install a fixed ladder to the portal legs of crane 2 and 4 along the identified most practical route. The ladder and platform should be bolt on. Lugs can be welded onto the crane by a coded welder. 1.4 Install resting platforms, guarding, hand rails ect. and conduct any other modification to ensure the fixed ladder and platforms are compliant to all relevant legislation and acts. 1.5 Modify the platforms where the fixed ladders meet the existing platform to ensure easy access to the platforms. 1.6 All structural steel work to be in accordance with EEAM-Q-006 STRUCTURAL STEELWORK (HE9-26Ver 9) as attached. 1.7 All steel work to be painted as per Transnet Paint Specification for ladders and platforms. 1.8 All welded joints must be welded by Structural Coded Welder. 1.9 All load carrying welded joints to be MPI inspected for cracks and defects 1.10 Complete installation to be approved by a structural engineer to be structurally sound and legally compliant. 1.11 All equipment required to complete the project to be supplied by the contractor. 1.12 Contractor to adhere to timeframes as agreed on site meeting for: A) Preparation of safety file, induction and permits B) Ensure tax clearance in order C) Complete all tasks in specified time NOTE: o o

Drawings of crane structures can be supplied, contractor to bring a flash drive to the site meeting. As much work as possible to be done while the crane is in operation. Limited outages will be arranged for the rest. The work to be completed within the shortest possible timeframe.

4 .Contractor Requirements: o

TPT personal, examiner and contactor must be present for final approval and inspection.

Contractor must ensure that their quality and workmanship is guarantee for a minimum of 1 year

o

The paint manufacturer shall guarantee the paint for at least 10 years.

o

The contractor needs to adhere to Transnet Paint Specification attached

o

Contractor to supply all equipment required to complete the scope (Rope access, lifting equipment etc.)

5. General requirements: 2

The contractor must submit a SHE file for approval by the TPT SHEQ department before any work commences. The contractor must ensure safe working practices during work on site.

Transnet Port Terminals cannot be held responsible for any injury that occurs on site.

The contractor is responsible for site establishment.

The contractor shall supply all necessary tools, equipment and consumables.

All electrical tools shall be safety checked and certified on a regular basis.

Contractor shall practice “good housekeeping” and leave the site clean and tidy.

All provisions and regulations of the Factory act shall be adhered to.

6. Health and safety requirements 9

All equipment and installation whether detailed in this document or not, Shall comply with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 as amended by applicable local authorities. All equipment shall be designed to fail to safety. Sudden power losses must not have an adverse effect on equipment and shall not unduly delay return to operation after power is restored.

10 At all times during the execution of the task, the contractor will be responsible for the safety of all authorised persons on site and the equipment.

Hazardous Substance Control Procedure 16. Project Specific Medical Fitness Certificates from an Occupational Health Practitioner 17. Project Personnel ID Documents 18. Proof of Equipment inspection Records e.g. hot work Equipment, Cranes etc. 19. Public Liability Insurance Covering Letter
