Q
atar Council for Healthcare Practitioner’s (QCHP) launched its Continuous Professional Development (CPD) scheme on March 7, at an event attended by Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al-Kuwari, the Minister of Public Health. All practitioners are now required to undertake regular ongoing training and education.
CPD and Continuous Medical Education (CME) is a mandatory requirement for continued licensing to practice in Qatar. This is the first time such a scheme has been implemented covering all healthcare professionals, regardless of specialty, within a single system. Dr. Samar Aboulsoud, Acting Chief Executive Officer, QCHP said: “CPD is a win, win situation
for both practitioners and patients. “Healthcare professionals are enthusiastic about the opportunities CPD/CME presents since knowledge and knowledge transfer is at the heart of what we do. Regularly educated and updated practitioners can provide the very best care to their patients, confident that their knowledge and skills are contemporary, and the
continuing education they receive will provide opportunities to excel and advance their careers,” Dr. Samar explained. “Patients in turn can be assured that they are receiving the most up-to-date advice and treatment,” she added. Healthcare professionals can register for the scheme at www. qchp.org.qa
