#1a MINUTES OF A BOARD WORKSHOP FOR THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT OF BOISE CITY Friday, February 24, 2017 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Edward L. Davis District Services Center 8169 W. Victory Road - Boise, Idaho WORKSHOP Trustee President Nancy Gregory called the meeting to order at 12:02 p.m. Those in attendance were Trustees Nancy Gregory, Maria Greeley, AJ Balukoff, Doug Park, Troy Rohn and Dave Wagers also Clerk Jennette Clark. Trustee Beth Oppenheimer was absent . Also present were Superintendent Dr. Don Coberly and Deputy Superintendent Coby Dennis; Directors Dr. Ann Farris, Lisa Roberts, Brian Walker and Amy Kohlmeier; also present were Administrator Nick Smith; Public Affairs Specialist Dan Hollar and Communications Specialist Ryan Hill. INSURANCE DISCUSSION Human Resource Administrator Nick Smith led a discussion on the District health insurance. He talked about per employee monthly premiums; overall deductible; out-ofpocket max; coinsurance; office visit copay and prescription drug copay. There are currently several different efforts in the Idaho Legislature to address school district health insurance costs. BOND FIRST TIER PROJECTS Deputy Superintendent Coby Dennis, presented to the Trustees the bond first tier project schedule and timeline. SUPERINTENDENT EVALUATION UPDATE Trustee President Nancy Gregory led a discussion on the work that is being done on the Superintendent Evaluation. The topics include Education Leadership, Chief Executive Officer, Staff Management/Relations, Community Relations and Personal Qualities. The committee received input and suggestions for the draft document. BOARD TRAINING Superintendent Dr. Don Coberly discussed recent articles regarding School Choice and Innovation. He also reported on three major studies regarding decrease in student achievement in voucher programs across the country. The Board members discussed community engagement and communications that are ongoing across our District.

BOARD/SUPERINTENDENT COMMENTS Trustee Dave Wagers commented that the Patron Tour at Fairmont Junior High and Morley Nelson Elementary was great. Trustee Wagers and Boise School District Foundation Director, Jennifer Henderson, were invited to tour the Career Center. As we consider expansion at the Dennis Center, we should review our policy on naming of facilities. ADJOURNMENT There being no further discussion a motion was made by Trustee AJ Balukoff with a second by Trustee Maria Greeley to adjourn the meeting. The Board voted unanimously to adjourn at 2:55 p.m.
