Guest Editorial Special Issue on ISCAS 2010 HIS Special Issue of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS—PART I (TCAS-I) is dedicated to some of the best papers originally presented at the IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS) in Paris, France, held in June 2010. These papers reflect the rich breath of topics covered at the Symposium and present the latest advancement in the areas of Analog and Mixed-Mode Circuits and Systems, Digital Circuits and Systems and VLSI, Circuits and Systems for Communications, Nonlinear Circuits and Systems, Power Systems and Power Electronic Circuits, and Sensory Systems. Two invited contributions by outstanding authors, being one by José M. de la Rosa (Institute of Microelectronics of Seville), entitled “Sigma-Delta Modulators: Tutorial Overview, Design Guide, and State-of-the-Art Survey,” and another one by Massimo Alioto (Università di Siena), entitled “Ultra-Low Power VLSI Circuit Design Demystified and Explained: A Tutorial,” were prepared based on the extremely successful tutorials they delivered at ISCAS 2010. The first article has been published in the January 2011 issue of the IEEE TCAS-I and was very well received by the readership. The second article is scheduled for an upcoming issue of TCAS-I. As for the papers here published, among the 41 contributions that were invited, 37 were submitted, and at the end of the review process, 21 were accepted to form this current Special Issue. Selecting a subset of papers from its high-quality sessions proved to be a difficult task. However, we are confident that
