IET Computers & Digital Techniques Call for Papers Announcing a Special Section in:

Hardware-Assisted Techniques for Security and Protection of Consumer Electronics Submission Deadline: February 28, 2018 IET Computers & Digital Techniques invites manuscripts in the area of “Hardware-Assisted Techniques for Security and Protection of Consumer Electronics”. IET CDT is a venue/platform for dissemination of research where a large audience belonging to electronics and computing can be found. The EDA/hardware/VLSI community comprises people from diverse backgrounds (especially hardware and IP cores) leveraged for CE. The electronics design industry is heading for a paradigm shift towards secured, reliable and low cost CE hardware as compared to conventional approaches. This special section aims to present novel solutions for any security/protection problems related to hardware used in CE. This special section is scheduled to be included in a future issue of the IET Computers & Digital Techniques. Consumer electronics (CE) comprising of high end devices ranging from digital camera, multi-spectral camera, smart tablets, and night vision camera to smart meter, along with information and communication technology make emerging smart cities and Internet of Things (IoT) a reality. In the world of CE, security, privacy, and protection of hardware and its information are equally important. "Hardware-Assisted Security" is defined as the security/protection of hardware/ intellectual property (IP) cores of CE devices or information by a hardware/system of CE devices. The term “security” encapsulates a broad theme that covers many aspects including hardware security, protection, privacy, trustworthiness, and IP protection and information security. System security may refer to the security of the system (e.g. a specific CE device) that handles the data or information. Manuscripts should be scoped within the domain of Hardware-Assisted Security for CE devices–original manuscripts are suited to the IET Computers & Digital Techniques. This special section aims to present novel solutions for any security/protection problems related to hardware used in CE (as outlined below). Suitable topics (but not limited to) include: IP core protection of CE hardware, Hardware security against Trojans Hardware security/IP core protection against Active and Passive IP security of CE for CE devices reverse engineering attacks for CE devices hardware Forensic engineering based Protection mechanisms of IC/IP buyer, PUF based security and protection protection of CE hardware Protection mechanisms of IC/IP seller methods of CE hardware IP core/hardware security against Energy-efficient digital-rights management Side channel attack resistant NBTI attacks on DSP hardware for CE embedded systems, DRM systems The theme is vital as it encompasses intersecting subjects of low cost CE device in terms of hardware Trojans, IP core protection, hardware security, IP protection, side channel attacks, etc. All the aforesaid topics are encapsulated in the proposed theme where researchers, practitioners, industry experts, CAD/design engineers, system architects and students are expected to show interest in submitting their work.
