POSITION SUMMARY Under the general direction of the Chief Information Officer, the IT Project Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing and leading dynamic cross functional teams on a day-today basis in the successful execution and implementation of IT initiatives and projects that are aligned with and support the IT Strategic Plan and over-arching College Strategic Plan. With limited supervision, the IT Project Specialist will play a leadership role in assessing, developing, monitoring, reporting and delivering on IT projects including project charters, schedules, plans, resources, budgets and deliverables. current processes and technology and make recommendations that will impact the allocation of resources (human, financial and technological resources). The incumbent will lead teams on projects focused on increasing productivity and efficiencies in College wide technological services such as self-service and process automation. Working collaboratively, the incumbent will be responsible for establishing and maintaining internal and external mutually supportive working relationships while demonstrating a high degree of customer service and project delivery. C) REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this position is responsible for providing functional guidance, supervision and leadership to multiple cross functional teams. D) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS                      

Leads all aspects of the execution process on assigned projects Accountable for the full scope of projects involving allocation of resources, systems and materials that support the college’s teaching, learning and administrative infrastructure Develops and manages critical path to ensure successful implementation Evaluates project requests and develops appropriate plans, charters, schedules and resource requirements Working with the stakeholder, the Project Specialist assists with due diligence/gap analysis in selecting a vendor that fits the requirements. This may involve assessing demonstrations, participating in consultations with sales reps, etc. Identifies, mitigates and solves challenges or risks related to achievement of project deliverables Resolve strategic issues or escalate to the appropriate level Close the project and conduct post-implementation review on client needs and development team contributions Drafts and recommends policy Prepares and delivers presentations for internal and external clients and stakeholders Manages project activities and outcomes to ensure alignment with established project goals and obligations Plans organizes and leads the activities of dynamic cross functional teams including establishing work deliverables, timelines, accountabilities, budget and other resources Facilitates project groups that include representatives both internal and external to ITS Responds as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements Monitors, tracks and reports on project resource utilization Develops, prepares and distributes regular management and status reports Establishes and maintains the project document library Investigates and analyses business processes, procedures and systems Initiates innovative approaches and solutions to improve the overall working and learning environment at the College. G) QUALIFICATIONS 

An undergraduate degree in a related discipline such as business, computer science, systems analysis or a related field of study  Project Management Professional Certification.  A minimum of 3 years work experience in a large, complex multi-union environment with increasing scope of responsibility (preference will be given to work experience in a postsecondary setting).  Minimum two years of successful project management experience including at least 6 months experiencing leading IT projects  An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
