Shriram Salunkhe, Best Horticulturist Mr. Shriram Salunkhe, AVP - Landscaping, BIA, Bangalore has been awarded the ‘Best Horticulturist of the Country’ by The Indian Nurserymen Association. He was also recognized by the Mysore Horticultural Society for transforming BIA into the ‘Best Ornamental Garden’ and ‘Big Garden’. These awards testify his significant contribution to the Indian Landscaping Industry over the past 20 years, as he continues to make his efforts in making BIA synonymous with exotic flora and green art. Let us hear from Mr. Salunkhe on what actually has gone into achieving this award.
How did you develop this passion for landscaping?
known as the ‘Garden City’, which is reflected in BIA’s landscape and in its flora.
Every project feels like the first project and getting appreciated for my work gives me a new high. The admiration by respective corporates has always motivated me to work harder and perhaps I developed a strong passion for what I am doing now. As they say, it’s hard to beat a person who never gives up and I never did! I have worked with joy.
How pivotal were your teams and internal resources at BIA to that end? Helen Keller said, ‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much’ and I believe in that adage. For me it’s not an individual contribution, it’s also the team around me, motivation from my reporting heads, and most importantly the management’s belief and confidence in me that inspires me to work so hard. The support by BIA and MIA’s management has been a huge influence and contributing factor.
