Course Description This course provides an introduction to the modern control theory including state space techniques, optimal control, stability analysis and controller design. The specific contents covered are: State space description of control systems, Solutions to the state space equation, Controllability and observability of linear control systems, Lyapunov stability analysis, Design of controller and observer, Introduction to optimal control. Objectives: The objective of this course is to introduce some fundamental concepts of control system design including the classical and modern control theory. The course is intended to provide students with the following benefits: 1?Competence with theoretical analysis for control system 2?Confidence in own abilities to analyze and design a new control system 3?Awareness of the role of system model, stability and control strategy 4?Enhance skills with application software such as Matlab.
