(PILO 5.2.1, 5.2.2, 5.2.3, 5.2.4, 5.2.5, 5.2.7, 5.2.8, 5.2.9, 5.2.10(iv,v)) Theoretical and conceptual frameworks in guiding family nursing with childbearing families The study of embryo and fetal development Comprehensive health assessment of a pregnant woman Sex and sexuality related to reproduction, pregnancy and childbirth Bio-psycho-social changes during pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood Bio-psycho-social changes relating to problems in reproduction and childbearing Principles of obstetric nursing care for the mother and fetus/neonate in the pre-natal, perinatal and post-natal periods Care of clients with abnormalities in conception, pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal conditions, e.g., infertility, abortions, infections, postpartum haemorrhage, postnatal depression Therapeutic care of females with common reproductive disorders, e.g. displacement of uterus and vagina, endometriosis, pelvic infection, neoplasm of cervix, uterus, ovary and breasts.

Lecture Lectures are conducted to provide students the theoretical and professional knowledge and skills about childbearing and health problems related to female reproductive system. A wide variety of audio visual aids are used to support the lecture teaching materials. Seminar/Tutorial Seminars, tutorials and group projects allow students to discuss and exchange information on contemporary issues related to the above mentioned syllabi. The sharing among individual student and group enhance students’ learning, understanding and critical thinking of the nursing

care provided to the clients and families. Laboratory Laboratory sessions allow students to learn nursing knowledge and skills by observing in demonstrations and performing nursing activities in return demonstrations. Guided Studies Reading materials and related topics of discussion information are provided to facilitate individual or group guided studies.
