Summary Sheet Guide *Use this to help you with your Summary Sheet for your project. • Data Distribution:  What’s your highest piece of data? Lowest piece of data?  Is it evenly distributed?  Are there gaps?  Are there clusters?  Are either of these line plots symmetrical? Skewed right? Skewed left?

• Outliers:  A value that lies far from the “center” of the distribution and is not like or near the other values

“Typical” Data:  What you would expect to see due to the shape or distribution of data.  What measure of central tendency is a good representation of your data (mean, mode, median)?

• Interquartile Range (IQR):  The difference of the values of the upper quartile and the lower quartile. Q3-Q1=IQR

• Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD):  The average distance between each data value and the mean.  How to find your MAD: -Find the mean of your data set -Find the distance between each data value and the mean. (find the absolute value of the difference between each data value and the mean)

-Find the average of the differences you found  If your MAD is a small number that means your data is close together and would imply that your mean IS a good representation of the other values in your data set  If your MAD is a large number the more variability or spread out your data is and would imply that your mean IS NOT a good representation of the other values in your data set
