“Automated Data Processing Systems”

The specialty "Automated Data Processing Systems" embraces both information technologies and control. It deals with various types of data processing techniques in decision-making and control systems based on up-to-date computing hardware and software incorporated in various man-machine systems. These include automated personalized working centers, computer-aided manufacturing, industrial management, computer-based control in industry, financial and commercial facilities and etc. Students get an engineering qualification and a degree of "engineer in information technologies". Students are trained to solve problems in automated data processing and control systems, including system formalization and goal-making, by using analytical approaches to study system behavior and developing computational algorithms and corresponding software. Our graduates' attention is focused on the up-to-date technological platforms in design, development, modeling and support of software products in the areas highly demanded by the contemporary society and market.

The pivotal concept of the specialty "Automated Data Processing Systems" combines the basic ideas of system analysis, algorithm design, programming technologies with a special focus on data bases and network computing.

Application and system software techniques are taught within the following disciplines:      

operating systems (Windows Vista/ Windows XP/Windows 2008/10 Server/NT) programming languages (Assembler WIN 32, MS Visual C ++, MS Visual Basic, Borland Delphi, GPSS World) databases and case technologies (MS Access, VS Visual FoxPro 9.0, MS SQL Server 2008/2010, My SQL, BPWin, ErWin) electronic documentation systems (Lotus Notes, LanDocs) integrated manufacturing software and visual frameworks (.NET, NetBeans) applied to Internet programming (C#.NET, Java, PHP, ASP.NET, JavaScript)

Students learn the details of data collection, transmission, storing, processing, transformation and representation in the up-to-date computing systems alongside with methods and techniques of design, development, realization, installation and support of automated information systems. These knowledge are used in developing, for instance, corporative control, management and information systems, Internet applications (interactive web-sites and web-portals), IT-penetration in government economic projects and etc. The specialty "Automated Data Processing Systems" includes two specializations: "Automated Systems for Data Processing and Display" and "Internet Technologies". Those specializing in "Automated Systems of Data Processing and Display" study additionally the following disciplines: modern programming systems, software for integrated manufacturing systems, expert systems and computer graphics. Those specializing in "Internet Technologies" study additionally: basics of Internet technologies, expert systems, technologies for Internet business and Internet programming. Students perform a lot of practical work in laboratories, carry out term projects and diploma projects. The laboratories are fitted with up-to-date computers, high-speed Internet and technical devices. Students have excellent possibilities to take part in business-projects and scientific activities.

They participate in research work, provide reports at annual scientific conferences and continue their studies at Master and Ph.D. levels. Some of our graduates choose teaching as their professional career. Our postgraduate students are highly sought after by employers from various areas: government organizations, banks, private companies, e.g. software manufacturers working under the Hi-Tech Park.
