Welcome to PGJr!

• Instructional Coaching

We are excited to give you a brief glimpse at our school. PGJr. is a school of 1424 7-9 grade students, 63 teachers, and 45 support staff. Our community is a very close and supportive one. You’ll find many students whose parents attended this school and many of our teachers and staff are graduates of PGJr too!

• Chromebooks

Programs and ways to be involved

• Software such as MasteryConnect

We believe that it is crucial for each student to feel connected to the school and we have many ways for everyone to find a niche. Along with our strong core academic programs, we also invite students to look for opportunities in music (choir, band, or orchestra), drama, student council/leadership, HOPE Squad, the Technology Student Association, FCCLA, basketball, track, Archery Club, Book Café, and other programs that are available at PGJr!

• Summer Collaboration for Teachers

Alpine Foundation We appreciate those who have donated to the school through the Alpine Foundation! It’s a great way to show support. If you’re interested in donating, please follow the link on our website.

Always Improving… Our faculty, staff, and community continually looks for ways to address challenges and improve student achievement. Two areas where we are devoting a great deal of time and energy are:

Remediation and Enrichment For a number of years PGJr had an intervention model called Flex where students were given 25 minutes, four days a week, to get with teachers to hand in assignments, get caught up, or participate in an activity. We are now working with students, teachers, and parents to develop a model that will provide students with time for remediation of concepts where they struggle, opportunities to go above the curriculum, and focus on mastery rather than assignment completion. There will be some bumps along the way but we are excited for what will come out of this process!

Vision for Learning Pleasant Grove Jr. is actively implementing the Alpine School District Vision for Learning. This will involve looking at best practices to help our school teach the knowledge, skills, and dispositions our students will need to find success in the 21st Century.

Achievement Data In the table below, you will find proficiency percentages from the SAGE test which is given throughout the state at the end of each school year. Some schools that are similar to PGJr in demographics are included for comparison. Language Arts
