Carlisle Park features the William Turner Garden, the famous son of Morpeth, as well as an 11th Century Motte and a 12th Century castle, making it a beautiful place to stretch your legs.

Coach Parking & Drop Off

There is coach parking in a layby on Whorral Bank in Morpeth which is a short walk into the town centre. There is also the option to drop off at the rear of the Sanderson Arcade, which must be arranged prior to arrival with Sanderson Arcade. Morpeth train station is on the East Coast Main Line.

Public Toilets & Refreshments The main public toilets are in the bus station, with more in the car park behind St. George’s Church, in the Terrace car park and Carlisle Park. Many of the cafes and restaurants take part in the ‘Local Loo’ scheme too. We have a wide range of cafes and restaurants within Morpeth for refreshments.

Morpeth is a market town with a unique shopping experience. Bridge Street is home to some high street names and the fantastic Rutherford’s department store which has been trading since 1846. Newgate Street & Oldgate are the places to head for unique independent retailers and the Sanderson Arcade features an indoor Edwardian-style gallery. Market day is Wednesday and there is a monthly farmers market every 1st Saturday.
