2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.4L built prior to September 25, 2002 (MDH 0925XX) 2003 Chrysler Town & Country 2.4L built prior May 7, 2003 (MDH 0507XX) 2003 Chrysler Voyager 2.4L RG equipped vehicles built prior to January 6, 2003 (MDH 0106XX) and May 7, 2003 (MDH 0507XX) for RS equipped vehicles. 2003 Dodge Caravan 2.4L built prior to May 7, 2003 (MDH 0507XX) 2003 Dodge Neon 2.4L built prior to September 25, 2002 (MDH 0925XX)
Condition: The engine will not start or cranks for an excessively long time and shows false diagnostic codes in the system. Code may, among others, include: • P0016 - crankshaft/camshaft timing misalignment • P0335 - crank position sensor circuit. • P0339 - crankshaft position sensor circuit intermittent • P0340 - cam shaft position sensor • P0622 - alternator field not switching Note: Other false codes may be stored as well.
Cause: The PCM program may be out of date. Correction: Follow the manufacture’s recommended procedures for diagnosing the system and updating the PCM.
