Condition:

The operator of the vehicle may complain of abnormal noise from the drive belt area, drive belt squeaking, or chirping.

Cause:

A potential cause for the above conditions could be the belt alignment, belt material, idler pulley and/or the belt tensioner.

Correction: The vehicle manufacturer has made changes to several parts in the accessory drive belt system as shown in the table below by applications. Model Land Cruiser

Changed Part Tensioner assembly (uses same number but part has been upgraded part number 16620-0S01).

ES350 RX350

Idler Pulley, plate and pulley cover (replacement part numbers 166040P011, 2 pulleys, and 16649-31020 2 plate/cover kits). Accessory drive belt (old number 90916-A2014, new part number 90916-02680)

Sequoia Tundra

Reason The tensioner assembly has been changed to keep the pulley properly aligned with the other pulleys in the system The manufacturer did not detail the reason for the change on this TSB. It is possible that the plate in the kit changes the alignment. The accessory drive belt material has been changed to reduce noise.
