Stingrays Go For Sweep of Swamp Rabbits Friday The South Carolina Stingrays complete their final road trip of the 2017-18 regular season this weekend with a game in Greenville against the Swamp Rabbits Friday night at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. After opening the two-game series with a 5-2 victory on Thursday, the Rays will attempt to pick up their ninth win of the year over Greenville in the 12th and final matchup to close out the season series, which SC leads with a record of 8-2-1. The Swamp Rabbits have fallen to the bottom of the South Division and are eliminated from postseason contention. SC will attempt to tie a club record for wins in the regular season tonight, which was set in 200708 with 47 wins under head coach Jared Bednar. The Stingrays hold the top spot in the ECHL both defensively and on the penalty kill, allowing just 2.16 goals per game while killing off 90.6% of their opponents’ power plays. Greenville is 11th on the power play this year, scoring on 17.8% of their man-advantage opportunities. The Stingrays have climbed to 10th in power play percentage at 17.9% on the season after scoring a total of five man-advantage goals in their last two games to start the week. Mitchell Nets Two In 5-2 Win Over Greenville Mason Mitchell led the way with two goals for the South Carolina Stingrays in a 5-2 win over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Thursday night at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Forward Dylan Margonari and defenseman Paul Geiger each picked up two assists on the goal by Mitchell, while goaltender Parker Milner earned his 27th win of the year by stopping 18 shots in the victory. The Stingrays also got goals from team captain Joe Devin, defenseman Andrew DeBrincat who was signed earlier in the day and defenseman Tommy Hughes.
